• For the first time a documentary feature film created by students of CUT University was screened within the cycle.
  • EMERGENTE BC will continue with the October session dedicated to the students of the Universidad Iberoamericana

The EMERGENTE BC sessions for the month of September corresponding to the works of CUT Universidad de Tijuana and the Center for Cinematographic Studies of Baja California were held at the Carlos Monsiváis Cineteca of the Tijuana Cultural Center (CECUT), as well as reported the Director of Creative Industries of the Ministry of Economy and Innovation (SEI), Abelardo Vázquez Ramos.

“ATIPIKXS” includes testimonies from four young people from the LGBTQIA+ community: Javier Rivas, Paulina Contreras, Darío de Jesús and Cristal Lázaro, as well as material taken from the 2022 Gay Pride March in Tijuana.

The director of this audiovisual work highlighted: “the meaning we found was that they are people who deviate from the standards set by a society, something that we consider fits with the LGBTQIA+ community due to the struggle they have always had to be treated with the same respect and live with the same freedom”.

For their part, the graduates of the audiovisual production from the Center for Cinematographic Studies of Baja California presented their projects entitled “Suspiro”, directed by Jazmin Malagarga; “Espítitu Profundo”, by Omar Pulido; “Clandestina”, by Bianca Verduzco; “The Clown”, by José Segundo; Jerry Sosa's “Brothers Heat”; and the special presentation of "(Sin Título) La Historia de la Poli", by Julio Blanco, and "Vete!", by Zaizar Habacuc, the latter also part of the Baja California showcase as a guest state within the film festival Shorts Mexico 2022.

"We are very pleased to continue presenting, with the support of CECUT, the students' work in a professional format and that for the first time a feature film has been screened, it is undoubtedly a sample of the enormous talent that exists in the classroom," Javier Espinoza, Baja Film Commissioner.

EMERGENTE BC continues on October 27 with the exhibition of the works of the Communication Degree of the Universidad Iberoamericana.
