- Digital graphic design engineering students participate in creative industries activity.
Tijuana, Baja California.- As part of the EMERGENTE BC program and the activities in favor of the creative industries promoted by the State Government, the film projects by the students of CETYS University were exhibited at the Carlos Monsiváis Cineteca of the Tijuana Cultural Center, as reported by the Baja Film Commissioner, Javier Espinoza Medina.
EMERGENTE BC and the Baja Film Commission are part of the programs of the Directorate of Creative Industries of the Ministry of Economy and Innovation (SEI).
The Digital Graphic Design Engineering students presented six shorts films, including two directed by Elena Soto, "Integrando el Amor" and "First Date 2", "Bon Appetit" by Daniela Rivera, "First Date 1" by Diane Ortiz, "Sin Señal” by José Alonso Mendoza and “No Te Me Separes” by Ernesto Camarillo.
“It is the first time that CETYS University has joined us in the program and now has become an annual commitment to present the work of its students at the Cineteca Tijuana, who each month support us with the space,” said Espinoza Medina.
The short films were supervised by filmmaker Raúl Sebastián del Callejo, who teaches video production and cinematography in the Digital Graphic Design academic program.
“I think that this type of dynamic is very important in the process of building new filmmakers, despite the fact that the filmmakers come from a design career, I think that far from being a limitation, it opened up new horizons in their audiovisual language”, detailed.
The filmmaker was part of the first season of EMERGENTE BC, when he presented “Otro Año Sin Ti”, within the CUT University of Tijuana program.
“This event has been running since 2019 to help promote new filmmakers in the city, and showing us a great diversity of voices that must be heard,” explained the commissioner.
The EMERGENTE BC initiative will close season two with the participation of the students of the Cinematography Degree of the Universidad de las Californias Internacional (UDCI) on December 15 at 6:00 p.m.
