Tijuana, B.C.- The fifth season of EMERGENTE BC continues with the short films of CUT University of Tijuana students from the Tijuana and Ensenada campuses. These projects were presented at the Cineteca Carlos Monsiváis of the Tijuana Cultural Center (CECUT) on March 28, according to Javier Espinoza, Baja California Film Commissioner, Undersecretariat of Creative Industries of the Ministry of Economy and Innovation (SEI).

During the event, short fiction films, music videos, and audiovisual exercises created by students from both cities' Bachelor's Program in Film and Audiovisual Production were screened.

For his part, Carlos Sarabia, coordinator of the Tijuana Film Cinema House "Carlos Monsiváis," commented that the University of Tijuana's sessions have always been distinguished for their success, not only due to the number of participants in the documentary film series, but also due to the strong turnout.

The titles presented were: "Regresa Ya" (Come Back Now), directed by Monserrath Alexander and Michelle Sánchez; "Crímenes de Media Noche" (Midnight Crimes), by Martín Ávila, Odalys Manrique, and Arwen Terrones; "Cara Tapada" (Hidden Face), by Cristo Soto; "Sedum" (Sedum), by Ariam Medina; "Jack and the Funny Seeds" (Jack and the Funny Seeds), by Alan Gradillo; "René", by Eva Pompa, Ivonne Wence, and Ángela Paredes; "Violeta" (Violet), by Neri Ortiz; "No Digas Te Quiero " (Don't Say I Love You), by Elisandra Díaz; "Zappiro" (Sapphire), by Hugo Gastón; "Te Miro" (I Look at You), by Yñigo Tellez; "Disco", by Julio Zamarripa; "Odd Breakfast", by Eduardo Armenta; "Cybersujt", by Antonio Barrera; and "De Aquí a Dónde?" (From Here to Where?), by Agustín Soto.

EMERGENTE BC is an exhibition program created by the Baja Film Commission to showcase the work of emerging audiovisual creators in the state. To date, it has presented more than 350 projects since 2019. The next edition will feature the selection of the Observatorio Centro de Estudios Cinematográficos.
