  • The FANTASPOA festival is the most important of the fantastic genre in Latin America.

The first feature film by director Jorge Iván Sanders-Ortega entitled "Brother, Kept ", which was filmed in Ensenada and Rosarito, in 2018, will premiere at the Porto Alegre International Fantastic Film Festival (FANTASPOA) in Brazil, as reported by the Secretary of Economy and Innovation, Kurt Honold Morales.

The festival will take place from April 20 to May 1 and is a pioneer in the presentation of the fantastic genre since its foundation in 2005; besides being the largest of its kind in Latin America and being the only one in this region to be accredited by the European Federation of Méliès Fantastic Festivals (EFFFF).

According to the Baja Film Commission of the Directorate of Creative Industries, the filming lasted four weeks and a post-production process of 10 months. Locations included Santa Anita in Ensenada and La Misión in Rosarito. The plot is about a serial killer who threatens the small town where the brothers Leo and Argel live, and features performances by Ariadnalí de la Peña, Giancarlo Ruiz, Jorge A. Jiménez, Leonardo Reyes, Hilda Sánchez, Adolfo Madera, Saul Hernandez and Diego Luque.

The director and screenwriter, Jorge Iván Sanders-Ortega comments on this story, which also includes themes of drug addiction and revenge, that “it was an extraordinary experience and it was always difficult to get to a premiere. I am proud of the team that was formed and pushed relentlessly until we achieved the goal,” also noting that after the premiere at FANTASPOA, they will continue with the festival route in Mexico, North America, Europe and Asia.
