The installation of the delegation of the National Chamber of the Cinematographic Industry (CANACINE) Baja California was announced, which will be headed by producer Walter von Borstel Salas. With the virtual presence of its National President, Fernando de Fuentes and the Director of the Mexican Institute of Cinematography (IMCINE), María Novaro, it was reported that the main objective is to contribute to the economic recovery and the promotion of cinema and audiovisual as part of the development of creative industries in the State.

The board of directors is made up of von Borstel as president; Laura Arvizu, secretary; Juan Madrigal, treasurer; Alfredo González, advisor; and Karla Fierro as coordinator. Tabata Vilar, CANACINE’s National Director, indicated that this is the association's sixth delegation, joining those in Mexico City, Jalisco, Puebla, Nuevo León and Tabasco.

Javier Espinoza, Baja California Film Commissioner welcomed this initiative to the State, emphasizing that the decentralization of organizations focused on audiovisual production in Mexico should not remain in the discourse and this is a step towards achieving it, “not only it is the duty of government institutions, private initiative must also participate ”, he indicated.

Vilar mentioned that the success of this initiative is conditioned on the participation of companies and the services they offer in the State, which will be accompanied by the CANACINE Delegation with specialized workshops and courses.

We are at a particular time, with a lot of demand for content and we must take advantage of it, said von Borstel. "This initiative comes at the best moment, in the economic recovery and the promotion of cinema and audiovisual as part of the development of the creative industries," he added.

CANACINE Baja California's work plan consists of supporting the development of specialized suppliers and joining the certification and standardization activities of labor competencies, which is a constant effort of the chamber at the national level.
