Tijuana, Baja California, México.- The Tijuana Film Festival and the Ministry of Culture of the City of Tijuana announce the opening of applications for their activities and exhibitions, which will take place within the framework of the first edition of the Festival, to be held from November 6th to 9th in the city of Tijuana.
CINE TALENTS TRAINING PROGRAM
With the goal of providing opportunities for young filmmakers from Baja California through mentorships, workshops, and master classes to boost their professional development within the film industry, the Cine Talents Training Program is now open. It is aimed at residents of the state between 18 and 30 years of age who are interested in developing professionally within the audiovisual sector. During the festival, free theoretical and practical workshops, mentorships in the areas of production, directing, screenwriting, photography, and lighting will be offered by industry professionals. The festival will cover transportation, lodging, and meals for those selected for this program.
PLATAFORMA NORTE: FEATURE FILM DEVELOPMENT AND PRODUCTION
The Tijuana Film Festival, in collaboration with the Undersecretariat of Creative Industries, invites the Baja California film community to participate in the Plataforma Norte: Feature Film Development and Production call for proposals. This initiative seeks to encourage emerging talent and foster the creation of new film projects in the region.
Eight projects in the development stage with a script in its final draft will be selected and will participate in a mentoring program led by film industry experts. At the conclusion of the process, the projects will be presented in a pitching pitching session before a jury made up of prominent figures in the film industry, who will select a winning project that will receive financial support of $250,000.00 MXN.
UNIVERSITY SHORT FILM COMPETITION 2025
As part of the exhibition program, the 2025 University Short Film Competition is open. It is aimed at students and graduates of higher education institutions in the Mexican Republic or those participating in audiovisual production educational programs who have submitted short films between January 2024 and June 2025.
The selected films will be included in the festival's official program and will be evaluated by a jury composed of renowned industry figures. The jury will award the festival statuette and a participation certificate to the winning short film in one of the two categories: Best Short Film and Best Short Film Direction. The awards ceremony will take place on Sunday, November 9, as part of the festival's closing activities.
