Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico.<\/strong> In collaboration with the Mexican movie theater chain Cin\u00e9polis, the Baja California Film Commission\u2014part of the Secretariat of Economy and Innovation (SEI)\u2014will present the feature films \u201cEntre dos tierras\u201d by Ra\u00fal Sebasti\u00e1n del Callejo and \u201c\u00c1ngeles FC\u201d by Roberto Ortiz, on August 12th at 6:00 PM, as part of the \u201cBC by BC\u201d showcase.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The showcase will be held free of charge simultaneously in the city of Tijuana at Cin\u00e9polis Plaza R\u00edo, Theater 13 (\u201cEntre Dos Tierras\u201d), and in Mexicali at Cin\u00e9polis Plaza San Pedro, Theater 10 (\u201c\u00c1ngeles FC\u201d). The event aims to present film projects produced in Baja California by local talent and crew.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ra\u00fal Sebasti\u00e1n del Callejo participates with his debut feature film, \u201cEntre dos tierras,\u201d a project awarded the 2023 FOCINE grant for debut films from film schools. Del Callejo, who holds a degree in Film and Audiovisual Production, has a distinguished career directing short films such as \u201cInstantes Infinitos\u201d (2017), \u201cLacuna\u201d (2017), \u201cBrillas\u201d (2019), and \u201cOtro a\u00f1o sin ti\u201d (2020). As a producer, he has worked on projects including \u201cEl enga\u00f1o\u201d (2016), \u201cTarde o temprano\u201d (2017), \u201cBeneath Us\u201d (2021), \u201cPuertas\u201d (2021), and \u201cConsuelo\u201d (2022). Regarding his feature film, which is currently on its exhibition circuit, director Ra\u00fal Sebasti\u00e1n del Callejo shared the deep meaning behind the work:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\u2018Entre Dos Tierras\u2019 is a film made with heart, a project conceived as a love letter to Tijuana: a city caught between two worlds, a geographical space that, although often appearing to be a no-man's-land, ends up belonging to all those who decide to make it their own. It is a story about love, family, resilience, and the hope of new beginnings.\"<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

The impact of \u201cEntre dos tierras\u201d has been reflected in its national and international circuit, featuring significant participation in film festivals such as the Havana International Festival of New Latin American Cinema, the Los Cabos International Film Festival, the Latino and Native American Film Festival, the California International Film Festival, and the Ensenada International Film Festival.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For his part, director Roberto Ortiz presents his debut feature film, \u201c\u00c1ngeles FC,\u201d a feature-length documentary produced with support from FOCINE and IMCINE's post-production program. Ortiz's accolades include the FONCA Young Creators grant (2021) and the Jury Award at the Reto DocsMX for the short film \u201cLos d\u00edas que no lo tengo.\u201d He has also participated in Talents Guadalajara and served as a jury member at DocsMX. Regarding the origins of the production, the filmmaking team shared the following:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Currently on its exhibition circuit, the film has been part of the official selection of high-profile festivals in the national industry, including the Guanajuato International Film Festival (Press Award), the DocsMX Documentary Film Festival, Doqumenta (Honorable Mention), and the Ambulante documentary tour.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
