{"id":4836,"date":"2024-02-09T16:11:00","date_gmt":"2024-02-10T00:11:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/bajafilmcommission.com\/?p=4836"},"modified":"2024-02-19T16:19:11","modified_gmt":"2024-02-20T00:19:11","slug":"angel-de-hoze-melendez-participara-en-el-short-film-corner-en-cannes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bajafilmcommission.com\/en\/angel-de-hoze-melendez-participara-en-el-short-film-corner-en-cannes\/","title":{"rendered":"\u201c\u00c1NGEL\u201d BY HOZE MEL\u00c9NDEZ WILL PARTICIPATE IN THE SHORT FILM CORNER AT CANNES FILM FESTIVAL"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Baja Californian short film \u201c\u00c1ngel\u201d, directed and starring by Hoze Mel\u00e9ndez and produced by Marla Arreola, has been chosen to be part of the Short Film Corner of the 2024 Cannes Film Festival, which will take place from May 14 to 25 in France, within the digital program of the Guanajuato International Film Festival (GIFF).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Short Film Corner serves as a space where the main representatives of the international film industry converge, as well as an unparalleled experience for talented Mexican filmmakers to exhibit their work, who will be able to present their work as directors and interact with personalities from the film industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The short film portrays \u00c1ngel (Mel\u00e9ndez), a lonely sex worker, who has become the object of inspiration for Lu (Grecia Ricart), a young homosexual plastic artist. The surprise of this infatuation will transform into a painful farewell that will teach Lu that letting go and letting go is the purest act of love.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201c\u00c1ngel\u201d had its premiere at the Brussels Short Film Festival. It won the award for Best Mexican Short Film at the Guanajuato International Film Festival; the Press Award at the Shorts M\u00e9xico Festival; Best Mexican Fiction Short Film by the International Queer Film Festival Playa del Carmen; and Best Performance at the LGBT Toronto Film Festival.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The short film had support from the Mexican Institute of Cinematography (IMCINE), and was filmed in various locations in Tijuana, Baja California, while the team of talent, technicians and creatives was made up of professionals from the State and Mexico City. The cinematography was in charge of Iv\u00e1n Hern\u00e1ndez AMC, while the production design by Jorge Iv\u00e1n Sanders, the sound recording by Ricardo Carre\u00f1o, the makeup and costume design by Ariel Le\u00f3n Castro and the editing by Gilberto Gonz\u00e1lez Penilla.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The director and protagonist has worked mainly as an actor. In 2017, he received the Ariel Award from the Mexican Academy of Cinematographic Arts and Sciences for Best Supporting Actor for his participation in \u201cAlmacenados\u201d by Jack Zagha.
