\u201cUn Cine Llamado Libertad\u201d, a film directed by Yadira Guti\u00e9rrez in co-production with Laura Irene Arvizu and Melissa Casta\u00f1eda, was exhibited at the facilities of the Libertad Tijuana Cinema. The project is part of the investigation of the thesis of the Master's Degree in Cultural Centers of the College of the Northern Border (COLEF) carried out by the director in 2018.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In 2020, the project was selected in the Virtual Poles Community Training Program by the Mexican Institute of Cinematography (IMCINE) and the Ministry of Culture of Baja California. Currently, he is a beneficiary of FONCA in the area of Promotion of Projects and Cultural Co-investments (2021). In addition, it has the support of the Ministry of Economy and Innovation through the Baja Film Commission, the City of Tijuana, the Tijuana Tourism and Conventions Committee and Barrikas Restaurant. The co-investors of this project are: Cine Libertad, COLEF, Antar Mouna Estudios, the composer Andr\u00e9s Mart\u00edn, the Baja California Orchestra, the production company Violeta Cine and the director Pablo Chavarr\u00eda Guti\u00e9rrez.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The creative documentary \u201cUn Cine Llamado Libertad\u201d is about one of the activities that led to coexistence of the people of Tijuana at the beginning of the 20th century: the practice of attending the cinema. The analysis of the memory contained in said spaces full of affections, does not have a place in the regional historiography. Reason why, this film from the historiographical recovery, oral transmission and archival material reveal that movie theaters are spaces that create community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Synopsis: The Libertad cinema was the first neighborhood cinema in Tijuana, it opened in 1954 and closed in 1964; after 53 years of abandonment, it reopened its doors in 2017. Former workers and attendees narrate the microhistory of this cinema and the neighborhood that houses it through photographs, home movies and newspaper clippings. Thus, this memory space resists over time and prevent oblivion from finding you.<\/p><\/blockquote><\/figure>\n\n\n\n The work team of this project is made up of industry professionals audiovisual where 65% of the technical team are women and 85% are from Baja California.
