{"id":4688,"date":"2022-10-20T22:00:00","date_gmt":"2022-10-21T05:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/bajafilmcommission.com\/?p=4688"},"modified":"2022-10-21T16:26:56","modified_gmt":"2022-10-21T23:26:56","slug":"se-presentara-muestra-de-cine-bajacaliforniano-en-el-centro-cultural-los-pinos-cdmx","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bajafilmcommission.com\/en\/se-presentara-muestra-de-cine-bajacaliforniano-en-el-centro-cultural-los-pinos-cdmx\/","title":{"rendered":"A SAMPLE OF BAJACALIFORNIAN CINEMA WILL BE PRESENTED AT THE LOS PINOS CULTURAL CENTER IN MEXICO CITY"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>There will be an outstanding series of documentary films in a showcase titled \u201cNarrating from a whirlwind: a brief sample of contemporary Baja Californian cinema\u201d<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico.- Works by filmmakers from Baja California will be exhibited as part of the XXI October Festival that will take place from the 21st to the 23rd of this month at the Los Pinos Cultural Complex in Mexico City, as reported by Javier Espinoza Medina, Baja Film Commissioner.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He explained that there will be an outstanding series of documentary films in a showcase titled \"Narrating from a whirlwind: a brief sample of contemporary Baja California cinema.\" The curatorship was in charge of Itzel Mart\u00ednez del Ca\u00f1izo, researcher, documentalist and film programmer, who currently works as programming director of the Ambulante Festival.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The sample is made up of seven short films and two feature films made during the last decade in the State. The short films make up two programs called \u201cFamily Complicities\u201d and \u201cCentrifuge Frontiers\u201d, respectively. \"These films reflect the work of new generations of audiovisual artists who have managed to decipher the impossibility of making us experience the mysteries of northern Mexico through their own stories and meanings,\" says Mart\u00ednez del Ca\u00f1izo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The short film programs are made up of \u201cLetter to my father\u201d (2020) by Paulina S\u00e1nchez, \u201cJR\u201d (2018) and \u201cObachan\u201d (2020) by Nicolasa Ruiz, \u201cConversations of a marriage\u201d (2013) by Gilberto Gonz\u00e1lez Penilla, \u201cThe Last Frontier\u201d (2018) by Axel N\u00fa\u00f1ez, \u201cDial Home\u201d (2019) by C\u00e9sar Mart\u00ednez, and \u201cNo-news Agency\u201d (2022) by Adriana Trujillo. Regarding the title of the exhibition, Mart\u00ednez del Ca\u00f1izo asserted: \u201cIt alludes to the border area as a vortex in which multiple currents of energy as turbulent as they are fertile converge and swirl.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For their part, the two selected feature films are distinguished by having been recognized at multiple film festivals and received various awards. \u201cLos Fundadores\u201d (2021) directed by Diego Hern\u00e1ndez and produced by Melissa Casta\u00f1eda, received the \u201cAhora Mexico\u201d award from the International Film Festival of the Autonomous University of Mexico (FICUNAM). Likewise, the documentary \u201cNi\u00f1a Sola\u201d (2019) by Javier \u00c1vila received the audience award at FICUNAM and FotoFilm Tijuana, in addition to participating in the Morelia International Film Festival (FICM).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This exhibition will take place in person at the Casa Miguel Alem\u00e1n Bunker of the Los Pinos Cultural Complex.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>THE SELECTION<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>A Girl Alone<\/em><\/strong> l 2019 l 93 min l Tijuana l Dir.
