Tijuana, Baja California, M\u00e9xico.- With the film \"Agua Caliente\" for the second consecutive year, Diego Hern\u00e1ndez debuts a feature film at the UNAM International Film Festival (FICUNAM), which was produced by Melissa Casta\u00f1eda of the production company Violeta Cine and filmed during confinement in Tijuana in 2020, as informed by the Secretary of Economy and Innovation Kurt Honold. The film will be part of the Ahora Mexico section, the same one in which Hern\u00e1ndez won with \u201cLos Fundadores\u201d, which received the Silver Puma at the aforementioned festival in its previous edition. The film \"Apocatastasis\" by the Tijuana-based Japanese artist Shinpei Takeda was also selected in the same section.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAgua Caliente\u201d is about Diego and his mother Graciela sharing time and space without leaving their house, while doing interviews and housework. In addition to directing the film, Diego was also in charge of photography and editing, and the production was done in conjunction with Melissa Casta\u00f1eda; the sound design was in charge of Fulvio Cortez and the original music was composed by Zadkiel Troncoso.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Producer Melissa Casta\u00f1eda stated: \u201cThis is a film that means a lot to us and we are so excited to finally share it. It was a great achievement to continue making projects during confinement and I am glad that such an intimate and small film is being recognized in a space like FICUNAM, where we are very happy to return.\" About \u201cAgua Caliente\u201d, the director commented: \"I am very excited to present this film. I believe that this type of production, made in complete austerity and with minimal budgets, can serve as an example to take our small means of production and make a completely free cinema, that becomes aware of our gaze and how we want our city and our spaces to be seen\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Likewise, the Ahora Mexico section includes the feature film \u201cApocatastasis\u201d, by director Shinpei Takeda, which began shooting in 2018 and includes locations in Mexico, Germany and Japan, and deals with the existential search of two characters, guided by stories told by real people, including a Dutch-Indonesian survivor of the Nagasaki nuclear bomb and a guardian of a prehistoric cave painting in a Baja California desert.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The 12th edition of FICUNAM will take place from March 10 to 20 of this year and will have a hybrid format with exhibitions in Mexico City and virtual venues on the MUBI, FilminLatino, Filmoteca UNAM online cinema platforms (access free for everyone) and the television channels TV UNAM and Canal 22.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
