Tijuana, B.C., February 9, 2021. - The Autonomous University of Mexico International Film Festival (FICUNAM) announced the world premiere of \u201cLos Fundadores\u201d (\u201cThe Founders\u201d) within the official selection of its eleventh edition. This is a feature film directed by Diego Hern\u00e1ndez filmed entirely in Tijuana, as reported by Mario Escobedo Carignan, Secretary of Sustainable Economy and Tourism.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The film was helmed at the end of 2019 in Baja California, and had its post-production during the confinement caused by the global pandemic. \"Los Fundadores\" is part of the section \"Ahora Mexico\" and lasts 62 minutes and tells the story of three university students named Renee, Andr\u00e9s and Diego. Regarding the selection, the director said: \u201cWe are very happy. We are proud to be able to premiere our film in a space focused on contemporary auteur cinema. FICUNAM has been very important for our training as filmmakers, due to its programming line and its various spaces for reflection on cinema\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Diego Hern\u00e1ndez recently managed the exhibition of the anthology of shortfilms titled \u201cContinental Breakfast, Vol. 1: Generations\u201d exhibited on the FilminLatino digital platform. Prior to this, he directed the shortfilms \u201cAusencia\u201d (2018), \u201cDocumental para mis compas\u201d (2019) and \u201cVicario (o mi tercer intento de hacer cine)\u201d (2020), which participated in various international festivals. \"Los Fundadores\" is produced by the director and Melissa Casta\u00f1eda.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The 2021 edition of FICUNAM will be featured online from March 18 to 28 and includes Mexican titles in the \u201cAhora Mexico\u201d section, some in co-production with other countries, and with a diversity of film genres, including fiction and documentary.
